Background Link: Plot article for Golden Sun: The Lost Age
AU Background: It's long, so have a link. The first two sections ("Early Years" and "Childhood" encompass Sheba's background up until her pull point. The rest of it continues because they show how she has the ability to change how she acts over time and might be relevent depending on power nerfing.
Personality: Sheba is a product of Tolbi's court. Having been raised there from infancy she is aware of what is expected of nobility and because she does not want to let down the man who gave her a home she acts as though she is noble. She is polite when required, adept at navigating sticky situations and power struggles, and dismissive of those who are either clearly below her station or can be of no use to her. She holds herself to high standards and expects others to meet them too and respects those who respect themselves. As she sees it, if you can't even take pride in yourself, no one ought to take pride in you. Likewise, if something is sloppily done or sloppily made, she sees no point in taking pride in a job. Babi kept close to him those who were the best at what they do and it is these sorts of people that she has been raised to see as a baseline. Those who failed to meet his needs were dismissed from the court and so she came to regard people based on what they could do for her rather than who they are as people.
Because Babi cultivated her mind reading and precognition skills from a young age, then had her study Alchemy, and then took an interest in her Psynergy, she has come to regard her own worth as being tied to her abilities and also tied to her intelligence. She seeks to better herself in every way that she can. She saw Babi praise warriors in Colosso who could hold their own on the battlefield, and so she trained to use both staff for casting and mace for melee. She saw Babi praise scholars (particularly Kraden) who made breakthroughs in the understanding of Alchemy, and so she spent long hours studying all she could. And of course, because he praised her for her Psynergy she sought to make it as strong as she could. She has a fierce determination to be the very best that she can be and would prefer to rely on herself rather than rely on others wherever she can.
She has a great thirst for knowledge and an inherent curiosity. She studied not only because Babi praised scholars but also because she honestly enjoyed learning new things. The years she spent under Kraden's tutelage were the best years of her life in her mind because there was always some new discovery to be made or some new experiment to run. She appreciated the time she spent with the other Alchemy scholars as well but viewed Kraden as her mentor and her ideal teacher. He was the closest thing she had to a friend in Babi's court and she is jealous of the time others (Isaac, Garet and Jenna specifically) have spent as his students. She also believes that information has an inherent value because she has seen how knowing the right things can tip someone's balance at court. She gathers information in anyway that she can: Books, visions, thoughts. She has no shame when it comes to intruding on the privacy of others because if they wanted things to be secret they should have protected them better, and she has to do everything in her own power to retain her position.
She values the bigger picture over the individual's struggle. She ran away from Tolbi because she knew that her assistance was necessary to save the world, not because there was any particular person she wanted to help. She largely sees her (soon to be) allies as tools and is only planning to team up with them because she saw herself teamed up with them in her visions. It doesn't matter to her that it is Felix, Jenna, and Piers she will be helping; it matters to her that they're the people most likely to succeed in saving the world. At present Kraden is the only real exception to this because she values the time she spent with him in her childhood. However over time (later on in her AU) she comes to value individual lives through her experiences with Felix, who always did his best to help people even when they could do nothing with him. Spending time with honestly good people has the potential to shift her viewpoint on human life and it would be possible for her to form actual friendships, but she wouldn't act as a friend immediately, rather she would be sort of possessive of them before realizing that she thinks of them as more than tools. In the Tower of Animus this could come from interaction with her CR, but even though it's not a sure thing the potential is there.
Sheba is not a bad person by default. She is largely shaped by her experiences. In canon she was a good-hearted girl because of the way Faran raised her, but because she was raised by Babi (who in canon had no problem using a girl's life to bargain for what he wanted) her experiences are far different. At her heart she isn't too different from OU Sheba. She wants to save the world, she wants to learn new things, and she wants to stay with the people she comes to value. She simply has a different way of expressing it.
Abilities: She has the inherent abilities to read minds and see the future because of her Jupiter Adept bloodline. While in canon she used her mind read Psynergy most often, in the AU Babi encouraged her precognition so that it has developed past the abilities she showed while OU. For her visions (which I headcanon as being flahses of the most likely future) I was wondering if it would be acceptable to have a permissions post for her to see futures as they would be had they not been interrupted by being brought to the tower since she probably won't be allowed to see the future for tower events. (So flashes of canon events that would have been occurring past a character's pull point.)
She has four Djinn: The four Djinn closest to Tolbi in the first game, which she saw visions of and went to collect before Isaac's group crossed the Karagol Sea. These Djinn are Squall the Jupiter Djinni, taken from Altmiller Cave who can attack with a storm of bolts with a high chance of paralyzing an enemy; Hail the Mercury Djinni, taken from south of Altmiller Cave who can attack with freezing hail that will lower an enemy's defense; Ground the Venus Djinni, taken from the north side of Kalay Docks which is accessible only to someone coming from Tolbi, who can use gravity to keep an enemy from moving at all and acts with increased priority; and Ember the Mars Djinni, found in Tolbi itself who can restore Psynergy Points to a group. When they have been unleashed she can summon the powers of Jupiter, Mercury, Venus and Mars.
Because of her training she is at Level 32. Depending on which Djinn are set her Psynergy skillset will vary by class. Her default class is Wind Seer, and the others she can attain with her Djinn are Pilgrim, Hermit, and Seer.
